Prescription Drugs Rehab
Prescription drug abuse has it's own set of problems and issues that need to be addressed in drug rehab treatment programs.
First of all prescription drug abuse is identified by the misuse or use of the prescribed medication other that what was prescribed or intended by the physician. The most commonly abused prescribed medication is painkillers.
Typically the drug abuse starts off as a need, taken to control pain due to a condition or injury. In some abuse cases the individual develops a dependency on the substance and then continues to take even though the condition or injury is no longer an issue. In other cases the individual develops a tolerance and dependency on the medication and more is needed to find or feel the effects of the medication.
The treatment of prescription drug addiction can be tricky because in some cases the need for a substance to control an injury or condition is still very valid. Some medicines are less addictive then others and in some chronic illness cases the doctors will alternate the prescriptions in order to help deter an addiction.
