The Narconon program was founded in 1966 by William Benitez.
William Benitez was an inmate of the Arizona State Prison and addicted to heroin. William Benitez's life changed when he was inspired and motivated by a book he read by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard. By following and applying the principle and concepts developed by L. Ron Hubbard, Benitez and several of his fellow inmates were permanently able to end their addiction to heroin.

Upon his successfully recovery William Benitez wanted to offer a successful addiction and detoxification program to other's in need. William Benitez conceptualized the Narconon Program and contacted L. Ron Hubbard for aid. William Benitez and L. Ron Hubbard established the drug rehab program, Narconon, based on the principles and concepts that enabled Benitez a successful recovery from drug addiction.
Narconon by using the principles established by L.Ron Hubbard has fine tuned it's approach to aiding others in becoming drug and alcohol free. Additional research by L. Ron Hubbard has aided the Narconon staff in helping others through the difficulties of withdrawal, using vitamins and mineral supplements to ease mental and physical symptoms. The Narconon drug rehab program provides support and understanding to facilitate recovery during the entire drug rehabilitation process. Narconon offers extensive after-care programs in order to help prevent relapse, and enable the individual return of a healthy and productive life style.
